The Upper Peninsula Overland Annual Run (UPO2008, UPO2009) is an organized trip led every August in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is a 4wd vehicle based trip that takes attendees across some of the more remote and scenic portions of this region. The intent of the trip is to visit and experience the unique natural and historical sites in the UP in a responsible and ethical manner. The broader scope of the group is to help share some of the treasures of Michigan's Upper Peninsula via written accounts, photography & video, and word of mouth in order to further engage the general public as to the current state of the region, education of its rich history, and threats it is facing in many facets. It is our hope that by seeing and experiencing some of the things this area has to offer, people will become more invested in becoming stewards to the U.P's natural and wild public lands. The Lake Superior Region truly is a unique place on a global sense, hopefully as these trips and events continue to grow we can utilize the resources for both educational and conservational purposes.

Upper Peninsula Overland 2008 Annual Trip "UPO2008"
The UPO2008 Trip, as our first annual, was an amazing experience, with perfect weather and (almost) zero mechanical issues during the entire trip! The trip started in Marquette, MI up to High Rock Point and down to Gay Beach to finish. You can see many more pictures and read about the trip In the Post Trip Write Up Thread for UPO2008. Upper Peninsula Overland 2009 Annual Trip "UPO2009"
Our 2nd Annual Run didn't take long to fill up with attendees. After a couple of 7a.m. TV6 interviews the group was headed east out of Marquette with our GPS destinations set on the Soo Locks. The first part of the trip took the group down a handful of "middle of nowhere" back roads through the Autrain, Seney and Melstrand areas. With weather non-cooperative the last half of day one was spent adventuring around the Munising, MI area. A dozen or so of the group grabbed lunch at The Falling Rock Cafe while many others checked out the Pictured Rocks area near Miner's Beach. A big Thank You! to Jenn Stielow for filming and editing the video on our trip!
