Well, here are some more pictures from the second leg of the trip. Friday morning came early, very early! We met at 7am at the Lower Harbor park in Marquette to organize, have a quick meeting, and to get filmed by the local news. We were greeted to the day by a thick, steel grey cloud cover and light rain. This was an omen of the weather to come...

I picked up a co driver from the airport Thursday evening. Now with a navigator/cinematographer onboard, we were rolling! Jenn managed to capture alot of footage whether it be turned around shooting out the back of the truck in the monsoon conditions Friday or through the sunroof on Saturday and Sunday. Good stuff.

Lined up at the bridge for our second stop on Friday. This was a needed break after a long stretch of whoop de doos. I was laughing constantly the whole time watching the Eagle bobbing across them, with the front tires leaving the ground frequently. Those struts got a workout.

I figured out the reason for Frank's erratic driving, faulty clothing design..

The Eagle in action. This car definately got more attention from the attendees and the random public our caravan encountered as we meandered across the UP.
I failed to take many pictures from Friday night's camp. The rain was coming down so hard and steady that I didn't feel like exposing my camera to it. After a brief foray into Munising to grab a bite and dry out a bit, a group of us went to Miner's Castle and Miner's beach in the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. The waves were large and still building as winds were blowing straight in out of the north with gale force. After getting back to our camp and setting up I cursed the weather some as the strong gusts broke one of the legs right off of my awning, leaving me with no protection from the elements other then the sleeping quarters of the Cruiser. My single greatest mistake of the weekend was taking my rain jacket out of the Cruiser and forgetting to put it back in Friday morning, leaving my with only a fleece jacket in the great typhoon of '09. I was soaked to the bone after dealing with the awning issue and Jenn and I decided it best to just kick back in the truck and watch a movie. It was just what I needed and was dry and cozy in the truck while the wind lashed with such fury that the whole truck would shake. We only left the truck long enough to sample some of Hod's incredible lamb/beef burgers and check in with everyone briefly. Saturday morning, though still grey, proved to be dry and was a big spirit lifter for the group.

Saturday's team building excercise. After encountering a washout that was around 5 feet deep we got to work doing some road "improvements". Pretty much the whole team worked together to source logs to fill the large voids with as those with shovels regraded the high side and filled over the logs. Ended up working great. We even had an audience of Tom's uncle who was running his bear dogs and we just happened to randomly encounter..... right after we randomly passed about 10 of his cousins on a dirt road an hour earlier. That guy is related to that whole county I swear.....
